Will It Stay Up? (The Only Question That Matters)

A strapless bra is held by its band, not its cups, so everything depends on how firmly that band sits. What actually does the work in these four:

• Underwire — three of the four are wired. The wire lifts from below, which is what keeps the shape when there is no strap over the shoulder to help.
• A deep, multi-hook back — the D/DD style closes on four hooks across a wide band, the half-cup on three rows of three. More hooks means the band can be tightened properly as it relaxes with wear.
• A back support strap — the lace strapless includes an extra strap that hooks across the back band to tighten it further. That is the one built for dancing in.

The one to be careful with is the ৳300 seamless style: it is wireless, so while the straps do come off, it holds least of the four. It is a fine strapless option under a light top for a small bust, and the wrong choice for a heavy bust or a long night.

Choose by Cup, Not by Band

• Small bust (A cup) — the light padded wired half-cup is shaped specifically to stop the cup gaping, which is the usual complaint when a small bust wears a standard strapless.
• A and B cup, going out — the lace strapless is the purpose-built one: wired, non-padded French lace, with the back support strap and a free pair of nipple covers in the box, since the lace is sheer.
• D and DD cup — the heavy bust support bra runs 36 to 46 with side wire, light breathable padding and a wide four-hook back. Removable straps mean you can take them off for an occasion without giving up the structure the rest of the week.

What is the difference between strapless and convertible?

A convertible bra is a normal bra whose straps unclip — you get a strapless option out of a bra you would wear anyway. A purpose-built strapless is designed around the band from the start, with a deeper, grippier back that stays put without a strap sharing the load. Three of these four are convertible; the lace one is purpose-built.

Can a D or DD cup wear strapless?

Yes, with the right band. The heavy bust support style is made for it — side wire and a wide four-hook back carry the weight the shoulders normally would. What does not work at that size is a light wireless bra with the straps taken off.

How tight should the band be?

Tighter than you would wear a normal bra, because the band is now doing all the work. It should sit level around your body without riding up when you raise your arms — if it climbs, go down a band size rather than pulling the cups up.

Will it show under a saree blouse or an off-shoulder top?

The lace style is designed to be worn under sheer sarees and gowns. For a fitted blouse the seamless style gives the smoothest finish. If your outfit leaves no room for any bra at all, the silicone nipple covers at ৳220 are the alternative — coverage only, no support.
